Goal
To promote, stimulate and activate less production and consumption of new cloth to consumers and companies.
Why
The fashion industry is polluter number 2 in the world,
we use four times as much cloth in weight as a couple of years ago. 10 – 40 % from all produced cloth is never ever sold and goos straight to the already dramatical big waste dumps. The fashion industrie is under enormous pressure and fashion is getting a black flavour. Sustainable production becomes the norm. At the same time it becomes clear that producing and consuming less new clothes is the most effective way to reduce the pollution of the fashion industry.
The labels are stimulating sustainable production,
but for them it is difficult to stimulate less consumption of new clothes because of their economic interest. Therefore it is up to other people in and around the fashion industry to stimulate less consumption of new clothes.
It’s not the clothing brands, but other forces in the fashion industry,
like stylists, influencers, magazines, trend forecasters and government institutions; they are the ones who can, and have to, use their position and specific qualities to promote less consumption of new cloth through making less consumption attractive and socially accepted. At the same time, promoting less consumption of new clothes can give more purpose to businesses, something that will become essential in the future purpose economy. Only together we can stimulate and activate a new, more healthy economy.
